The Nordic embassies in Berlin host a summer exhibition on Nordic fashion, food and design with a strong ecological and ethical focus.

From eclimate change to slow fashion to wild food, the exhibition portrays and discusses the Nordic way of life with its strengths, focuses and challenges. 

According to the curator Mathias Wagner and Sabine Schirdewahn,

“What was traditionally not exploitable as food in Nordic countries was used for the production of clothing and jewellery. The designers of these countries have meanwhile long since left the exclusively utilitarian, everyday aspect behind.”

The exhibition, with tableaus meandering through the Felleshus of the Nordic Embassies, with the visualization of Nordic landscapes, with handicrafts as well as fashion, food and interior design, will show the degree to which fashion and gastronomy are embedded in the cultural environment of the countries of the North.

It will convey the quality and value of careful food preparation (Slow Food), of table and cooking culture (Craft and Design) and a perceptive and sensual approach to fashion (Slow Fashion), each as a comprehensive cultural phenomenon in its own right that mirrors the geography, seasons and climate as well as the cultural life of the people of the respective countries
